Career Fairs

Career fairs are a great way to visit a wide range of companies in one place. Place yourself ahead of the crowd and optimize your experience with our invaluable time saving tips. Be sure to view up and coming job fairs for Georgia and nationwide events for Women for Hire Expos at the bottom of this page.

  1. Pre-register- some career fairs offer early morning seminars. This is also a way for employers to pre-screen applicants. Who knows? If you have a top-notch resume, they may remember you when you arrive!

  2. Polish up those interviewing skills! Remember BluePrint Resumes & Consulting offers interview coaching as well.

  3. View a list of attending companies for a particular fair and research the ones you're interested in! This will help if you happen to interview.

  4. Dress to impress, but don't overdo it! Conservative, business attire is best.

  5. Bring at least 20-40 professionally created resumes, this way you have enough for potential employers and other career experts such as career coaches or resume evaluators. Also bring a scannable version for employers to scan into their database when they return to their office. This is becoming very popular these days. BluePrint Resumes clients have received numerous Recruiter compliments on their resumes at several career fairs.

  6. Have an effective presentation with a professional portfolio which includes your resumes, reference sheets, salary history/request sheets and samples of your best work depending on your industry or occupation. For example, graphic designs, a process flow chart you created or a unique spreadsheet.

  7. Work the room! Introduce yourself and network with other job candidates as well. Many are still employed and although they may want to leave a particular company, this same company may be a great fit for you!

  8. Be sure to get as many business cards and contact information for the Human Resources Department or Hiring Managers. This is important because many of these companies send other non-management employees to these fairs who have no hiring authority and simply invite you to apply online.
